The Detroit Conservation Leadership Corps (DCLC) is a six-week summer youth employment program focusing on environmental stewardship, leadership development, teamwork and exposure to local and regional careers in the green industry. Within the DCLC, Detroit youth work in teams on a variety of different environmental conservation projects in Detroit city parks and neighborhood green spaces. Projects include trail and park maintenance, habitat restoration, vacant lot reclamation projects and urban agriculture.
In addition to work on team projects, DCLC youth members will attend weekly Environmental Education field trips which include outdoor recreation, conservation and career readiness activities. Youth participants will also learn about environmental literacy and environmental justice.
